The DEFIT® Small Shunt System is designed for the treatment of hydrocephalus in both pediatric and adult patients, providing reliable and controlled cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage across a wide range of clinical indications.
All DEFIT® silicone valves are manufactured from medical-grade silicone elastomer and polypropylene, materials selected for their excellent biocompatibility, durability, and mechanical stability. This material combination minimizes the risk of valve deformation and sticking, ensuring consistent performance and long-term reliability.
Each valve incorporates a membrane valve mechanism for precise pressure regulation and controlled CSF flow. An integrated reservoir enables convenient CSF sampling and allows clinicians to assess shunt function during postoperative follow-up.
The DEFIT® Small Shunt System is available in Low, Medium, and High Pressure configurations, allowing surgeons to select the most appropriate pressure level according to the patient's clinical requirements.
Standard configurations include:
DEFIT® Small Pediatric Silicone Shunt with Reinforced Base – Low Pressure
DEFIT® Small Pediatric Silicone Shunt with Reinforced Base – Medium Pressure
DEFIT® Small Pediatric Silicone Shunt with Reinforced Base – High Pressure
Antibiotic-Impregnated DEFIT® Small Pediatric Silicone Shunt with Reinforced Base – Low Pressure
Antibiotic-Impregnated DEFIT® Small Pediatric Silicone Shunt with Reinforced Base – Medium Pressure
Antibiotic-Impregnated DEFIT® Small Pediatric Silicone Shunt with Reinforced Base – High Pressure
The antibiotic-impregnated versions incorporate antimicrobial agents within the catheter material to help reduce the risk of bacterial colonization during the early postoperative period while maintaining the same flow characteristics and mechanical performance as the standard systems.
Designed for dependable performance, surgical convenience, and long-term patient safety, the DEFIT® Small Shunt System provides neurosurgeons with a versatile solution for effective hydrocephalus management across different age groups and clinical conditions. The DEFIT® Small Shunt System is designed for the treatment of hydrocephalus in both pediatric and adult patients, providing reliable and controlled cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage across a wide range of clinical indications.
