Intended UseThe SaberVet Bovine Pregnancy Rapid Test is a qualitative lateral-flow immunoassay for detection of pregnancy-associated glycoproteins (PAGs) in peripheral blood of ruminants. It uses a double-antibody sandwich format on a nitrocellulose membrane. A visible colored band appears on the test line for positive samples. The test can be used from day 26 post-breeding and throughout pregnancy to support herd reproductive management.
Reagent and Materials Provided- Test devices (sealed foil pouches)
- Assay buffer
- Disposable droppers
- Package insert / instructions
Materials Required but Not ProvidedStorage and StabilityStore sealed test devices at room temperature away from direct light (4–30°C). Do not freeze. Use before the expiration date printed on the pouch.
Warnings, Precautions and Safety Information- For bovine use only; not for human diagnostics.
- Environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) can affect results; perform test within recommended conditions.
- Inspect foil pouch integrity before use and run the test immediately after opening.
- Do not reuse test devices or components.
- Do not use after the expiry date or if components from different lot numbers are mixed.
- All biological samples should be considered potentially infectious; wear protective gloves and follow local biosafety and disposal regulations.
Specimen Collection, Handling, and Transport- Accepted sample types: whole blood (EDTA), plasma (EDTA, heparin or sodium citrate), or serum.
- Whole blood: collect and test promptly; if delay is necessary, refrigerate (2–8°C) and test within 24 hours.
- Serum: collect in non-anticoagulant tubes and centrifuge to separate serum.
- Plasma: collect in anticoagulant tubes and centrifuge to separate plasma.
- Short-term storage: 2–8°C; long-term storage: freeze at −20°C or below and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
- Clarify samples with precipitate prior to testing; hemolyzed or contaminated specimens may produce unreliable results.
SummaryPregnancy-associated glycoproteins (PAGs) are secreted by embryonic trophoblast cells after conception and are present in peripheral blood of pregnant ruminants. The SaberVet rapid test provides a field-suitable method to detect PAGs in whole blood, plasma or serum from day 26 post-breeding, aiding veterinarians and livestock producers in reproductive decision-making, reducing unnecessary breeding intervals and optimizing herd productivity.
