Product Overview

The Neisseria gonorrhoeae antigen test kit (model SNG-502, Item No. S0001) is a rapid visual lateral flow immunoassay for qualitative detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in female endocervical swab and male urethral swab specimens. The kit is intended to assist clinical diagnosis of gonococcal infection.

Principle

The test identifies N. gonorrhoeae by visual color development on an internal test strip. The membrane is immobilized with gonococcal antigen-specific antibodies at the test position (T) and control antibodies at the control position (C). During testing, the specimen is added to the sample well (S) and reacts with anti-gonococcus monoclonal antibody conjugated to colored polystyrene latex microspheres precoated on the sample pad. The complex migrates through the membrane by capillary action and interacts with immobilized antibody at the test line. Presence of sufficient gonococcal antigen produces a colored band at T (positive); absence of the band indicates a negative result. A colored band at C serves as an internal procedural control, confirming adequate specimen volume and membrane function.
