Description

Overview
Discover Geniox VOClean, a high-performing, energy-saving ecology air handling unit specifically designed for commercial kitchen applications. The unit captures and removes grease, smoke, steam, odours and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with airflows from 2,500 m³/h up to 40,000 m³/h. It is available with options to reduce maintenance and improve indoor air quality in hospitality and catering environments.

Key benefits
  • Removes odours quickly using multi-stage filtration including electrostatic precipitators and activated carbon.
  • Easy to clean — optional autowash system for precipitators reduces maintenance time and cost.
  • Robust thermal and acoustic insulation with 60 mm panels.
  • Flexible control options: Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for variable speed, Basic Control (includes autowash adaptation), and Advanced Control (BMS integration).
  • Configurable for a range of kitchen densities from light to heavy (continuous operation up to 120°C with suitable configuration).

Filtration & air treatment system (functional description)
  • Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP): Two-stage ESP arrangement — first stage to ionise and capture grease/smoke/steam/odour particulates; second stage for high-density grease/particle control.
  • Pre and post mesh filters: Capture larger particles to protect inner filters and extend service life of finer media.
  • Bag filter (optional): Extends activated carbon life by removing additional particulates ahead of carbon stage.
  • EPA/HEPA filter (optional): Fine particulate removal to support carbon performance.
  • Activated carbon filters: Placed after finer filtration grades to adsorb VOCs and odours while avoiding rapid saturation by solids.
  • UVV lamps (UV-C, ozone producing at ~185 nm): Provide photolysis and ozonolysis to break down VOCs and assist odour removal (lamp life approx. 9,000–10,000 hours; replace at end of life).

Operation & maintenance
  • Autowash option available to periodically clean precipitator plates and reduce manual maintenance.
  • Accessible doors and robust handles for straightforward cleaning and service access; doors seal to minimise thermal leakage.
  • Controls range from simple to fully integrated BMS for monitoring and remote operation.

Applications (by kitchen density)
  • Light density — Examples: cafés, tea shops, sushi shops, dishwashing areas. Standard systems suitable.
  • Medium density — Examples: pubs, pizza restaurants, many Italian/French restaurants. Requires carbon filtration with minimum contact time ~0.2 s after electrostatic filtration.
  • High density — Examples: fast food, fried-food kitchens. Requires two-stage ESP + carbon filtration, min. contact time ~0.2 s.
  • Heavy density — Examples: steakhouses, BBQ restaurants. Requires two-stage ESP + carbon filtration (min. 0.2 s) plus UV/ozone system or minimum contact period ~0.4 s.

Typical use cases / environments
  • Commercial kitchens and catering establishments of all scales.
  • Restaurants, hotels, institutional kitchens and other hospitality venues requiring grease, smoke and odour control.

Options & accessories
  • Autowash system for ESP cleaning (programmable intervals).
  • Various control packages: VFD (variable speed), Basic Control (autowash-ready), Advanced Control (BMS integration).
  • Activated carbon modules, EPA/HEPA modules, additional bag filters, UV-C ozone lamps.
  • Cooker-hood integrations: exhaust-only, exhaust with air jet, exhaust with supply, air supply plenums, low-ceiling variants.

Features / technical specifications
  • Airflow range: approximately 2,500 m³/h to 40,000 m³/h.
  • Casing: 60 mm panels; thermal insulation class T2; thermal bridging class TB2; deflection class D1; air leakage class L1; filter bypass class F9.
  • Filtration stages: pre/post mesh filters, 1–2 electrostatic precipitators (ESP), bag filter (option), EPA/HEPA (option), activated carbon stage; UVV (UV-C, ozone-producing) optional.
  • Activated carbon positioned after finer filtration to avoid premature saturation.
  • UVV lamps: typical wavelength ~185 nm for ozone production; lamp lifetime ~9,000–10,000 hours (replace at end of life).
  • Operational temperature capability: configurable for continuous operation up to 120°C (dependent on configuration and local code).
  • Fans: direct-driven plug fan motor, standard IE3 motor efficiency.
  • Control options: Variable Frequency Drive (VFD); Basic Control (autowash adaptation); Advanced Control (BMS integration).
  • Autowash: optional automated cleaning cycle for precipitator plates.
  • Applications density: defined classifications Light / Medium / High / Heavy with recommended filtration and contact-time requirements (carbon contact time min. ~0.2 s; heavy + UV/ozone or ~0.4 s).
  • Typical materials and serviceability: service access doors with effective sealing for maintenance and reduced thermal leakage.
