Overview
Based on more than 60 years of development and production engineering, the CODAN infusion series are progressive systems for gravity and pressure-controlled infusion therapies. The range covers basic gravity sets, pump-dedicated assemblies and specialised variants for TIVA, air protection and needle-free injection.

CODAN basic infusion sets - components

• Specially designed spike enabling easy penetration of container ports; available as vented and non-vented versions
• Drip chamber with standard drip orifice (20 drops = 1 ml), made of flexible, transparent non-reflective material with level ring mark; equipped with a 15 µm particle filter
• Highly flexible transparent PVC tubing with TOTM plasticiser or PVC-free green line® in multiple lengths; LIGHT-PROTECTED (290–900 nm, white) and LIGHT-SAFE™ (290–450 nm, yellow) options for light-sensitive medication
• Precision roller clamp offering clamp-off, tubing securing and spike protection on disposal
• Various injection sites and Male Luer-Lock adapters at the distal end
• FlowStop protection cap with hydrophobic filter allowing air passage but automatically stopping liquid flow when solution reaches the filter
• Wing-Valve: blue inline component used to prepare, fill, aerate and ventilate the infusion set without pumping the drip chamber

Additional CODAN solutions and variants

• CODAN Guard® infusion sets: drip chamber with integrated AirStop membrane to prevent air infusion; identifiable by a dark grey upper drip chamber; available with multiple spikes and Wing-Valve for complete administration and rinsing
• Drip SWAN® infusion sets: integrated needle-free injection adapter in the drip chamber to add medication via syringe or a secondary line
• Mix-Ad Sets: systems for dissolution of dried substances (e.g. antibiotics) enabling preparation and administration in a single secure assembly
• CODAN IVIP®: pump-dedicated infusion sets for specific volumetric pump applications with silicone and retention conveying segments

Clinical and economic considerations
Certain CODAN systems are designed for extended use within defined therapy sessions and allow complete medication administration by rinsing afterwards. This can reduce costs and waste while ensuring full delivery of critical medications such as antibiotics.
