Overview
CODAN transfusion sets are developed for transfusion of blood and blood components and are suitable for gravity and pressure administration (including with compatible volumetric infusion pumps) as well as for pressure cuff driven transfusion applications. The range reflects over 60 years of development with a focus on ecological and economical patient blood management.

CODAN basic transfusion sets
Our basic transfusion sets include the following components:

• Specially designed spike for easy penetration of container ports and secure connection (vented and non-vented versions available)
• Drip chamber with standard drip orifice (20 drops = 1 ml), made of flexible, transparent non-reflective material with level mark; equipped with a 200 µm filter (filter surface options: 11.5 cm² or 23.5 cm²)
• Highly flexible tubing made of PVC with TOTM plasticiser or PVC-free green line® tubing, available in different lengths
• Various injection site types and Male Luer-Lock adapters at the distal end
• FlowStop protection cap with hydrophobic filter that allows air to pass but automatically stops flow when fluid reaches the filter

Variations and specialised sets

• Drip SWAN® transfusion set: Closed-system set enabling complete administration of the blood product, minimising residual blood in tubing and simplifying handling
• Transfusion sets with multiple spikes (Y-type): Multiple spikes allow consecutive administration of blood, components and saline, enabling preparation of more than one transfusion with a single set
• Transfusion sets for neonatology/paediatrics: Ready-to-use administration sets and configurable systems for safe, accurate transfusion in neonates and paediatric patients
• Blood filter set (TAKE SETSWAN B93): Drip chamber with 200 µm filter for filtration and withdrawal of small blood volumes, especially for neonatology/paediatrics
• CODAN IVIP® dedicated transfusion sets: Developed for use with specific volumetric infusion pumps requiring dedicated pump conveying with silicone and retention segments
