Description

Overview
CODAN CYTO® provides closed‑system infusion components for the safe preparation and administration of cytotoxic drugs. Developed since the 1990s, the system reduces user exposure and contamination risk while ensuring complete delivery of medication. The concept combines a primary infusion line (Cyto‑Ad Z®) with a secondary preparation line (Connect Z®) to create a closed handling workflow for pharmacies, clinics and hospitals.

Cyto‑Ad Z® (primary line)
Cyto‑Ad Z® infusion sets are primary lines designed for low‑risk administration of cytostatics and other medications when used with Connect Z®. Variants include standard sets and versions adapted for pump integration.
  • Available with 1, 2, 4 or 6 Female Luer‑Lock adapters with integrated CODAN Check Valve
  • Tubing materials: PVC with TOTM plasticiser (transparent, yellow LIGHT‑SAFE™ 290–450 nm, white LIGHT‑PROTECTED 290–900 nm) or PVC‑free (PP, PUR) green line®; options in transparent and yellow LIGHT‑SAFE™
  • Different Male Luer‑Lock adapter versions including irreversible ONCE‑LOCK 2 option

Cyto‑Ad‑Wing Z® (Wing‑Valve)
The Cyto‑Ad‑Wing Z® integrates a Wing‑Valve at the top of the inline drip chamber to facilitate filling, aeration and ventilation. The Wing‑Valve eliminates the need to pump the drip chamber and allows in‑use correction of the fluid level, simplifying preparation and handling.

Connect Z® (secondary line / preparation device)
Connect Z® enables needle‑free preparation and reconstitution of cytotoxic drugs in infusion bags. Fluid can be withdrawn for mixing and then reinjected via a needle‑free Female Luer‑Lock adapter with a special open‑close mechanism. Once reconstituted, Connect Z® connects to the Cyto‑Ad Z® to complete the closed system.
  • Optional 0.2 µm I.V.STAR® infusion filter (10 cm²) for drugs such as paclitaxel and certain monoclonal antibodies
  • Tubing options: PVC with TOTM or completely PVC‑free (green line®)
  • Special tubing for light‑sensitive drugs: white LIGHT‑PROTECTED (290–900 nm) and yellow LIGHT‑SAFE™ (290–450 nm)

ONCE‑LOCK 2 adapter
The ONCE‑LOCK 2 Male Luer‑Lock adapter provides an irreversible connection after attachment to the primary line, preventing disconnection and eliminating disconnection‑related contamination risk to secure the complete medication unit.

Pump‑dedicated solutions
Cyto‑Ad Z® Inline includes an Inline Spike Adapter for connection to dedicated infusion sets with special pump segments. CODAN IVIP® infusion sets are available for specific volumetric infusion pumps and include tailored conveying segments (e.g. silicone and retention segments) for pump compatibility.
