The Chikungunya IgM Rapid Test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of IgM anti-chikungunya virus (CHIK) in human serum or plasma.

Background
Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral infection transmitted primarily by Aedes species. Clinical presentation typically includes fever, rash and severe joint pain (arthralgia), with symptoms commonly lasting three to seven days. Outbreaks occur in tropical and subtropical regions during rainy seasons.

Kit Components
