Theory The system delivers Q-switched Nd:YAG pulses at 1064 nm and 532 nm that are selectively absorbed by target pigments. High-energy pulses produce a photomechanical effect that fragments pigment particles; larger fragments may be ejected and residual particles are gradually cleared by the body’s immune system. Normal skin absorbs relatively little energy at these wavelengths, enabling selective targeting of pigments while minimizing collateral tissue damage.

Application
