Overview
Copley Scientific provides the Drop Test Apparatus (DTA) as a repeatable, reproducible solution for drop-testing inhaler and nasal drug devices to assess device robustness and the impact of poor patient technique on critical quality attributes (CQAs). The DTA enables evaluation of device performance following a free-fall drop, across a range of drop heights and against a standardised test surface, providing a standardised method for testing between laboratories, analysts and product types.

Purpose and capabilities
The DTA supports realistic handling-condition testing to determine whether an inhaler or nasal device remains intact and functional after impact. It offers configurable test heights and a secure gripper to hold devices in differing orientations so analysts can assess device robustness and subsequent product performance under simulated drop conditions.
