Description

The C390H is a laboratory water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) test system based on the infrared sensor method, designed for accurate measurement of moisture barrier properties of films, sheets, packages and related materials.

Overview
  • Infrared sensor method compliant with ISO 15106-2 and ASTM F1249.
  • Patented three-cell integrated test block enabling simultaneous or independent testing of three specimens under identical conditions.
  • Automated control of temperature, humidity and carrier gas flow for stable, repeatable results.

High precision
  • Next-generation infrared sensor with increased sensitivity and stability, reducing calibration frequency.
  • Integrated three-cell block with optimized hydrodynamic and thermodynamic design for uniform measurements across cells.
  • Independent temperature and humidity sensors per cell and precise automatic control of environmental parameters.

Efficiency & productivity
  • Simultaneous testing of up to three specimens to increase throughput and support parallel testing strategies.
  • Automatic test modes and environmental control reduce operator intervention and manual monitoring.

Operation & data management
  • 12" touchscreen interface running Windows 11 for test setup and monitoring.
  • Optional DataShieldTM software for centralized, secure data management and multiple export formats; LAN/Wi‑Fi support available.

Principle of test
  • Sample is mounted between a dry chamber (swept by dry nitrogen) and a humid chamber. Water vapor permeating the sample is carried to the infrared sensor by the carrier gas; the sensor signal is analyzed to calculate WVTR. For packaged samples, dry nitrogen flows inside the package while the exterior is held at controlled humidity.

Standards
  • ISO 15106-2
  • ASTM F1249
  • GB/T 26253
  • JIS K7129
  • YBB 00092003-2015

Applications
  • Films: plastic films, paper–plastic laminates, coextruded films, metalized films, aluminium foil composites, fiber-reinforced laminates.
  • Sheets: PP, PVC, PVDC, metallic foils, rubber pads, silicon wafers.
  • Packaging: plastic containers, pouches, coated cartons, vacuum bags, metal cans, cosmetic tubes, food packaging.
  • Extended uses: closures, photovoltaic backsheet films, plastic tubes (cosmetics), blister packs, plastic fuel tanks, battery housings.
