Description

Product overview
TB Test is a rapid immunochromatographic test kit for qualitative detection of anti-tuberculosis antibodies in cattle samples (whole blood, serum, plasma; milk noted). The assay provides a visual T line for antibody presence and a C control line to confirm test validity.

Introduction
This one-step lateral flow assay detects antibodies to Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (including M. bovis and M. africanum) across immunoglobulin isotypes (IgG, IgM, IgA). It is designed for on-site screening and laboratory triage using minimally processed specimens.

Benefits
  • Compatible with whole blood (fingerstick/venipuncture), serum and plasma; milk samples can be tested where applicable.
  • Simple procedure suitable for non-specialist on-site inspection.
  • Rapid time-to-result: interpretation in 5–10 minutes; typical display ~15 minutes.
  • High throughput capability (manufacturer-reported up to 270 samples/hour under optimal conditions).
  • Compact, portable format enabling mobile operation and cloud-based quality control integration.
  • Reported sensitivity and specificity consistent with lateral flow enzyme-labeled comparators.

Principle
The assay uses a sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic format with colloidal gold-labelled antigen. Anti-TB antibodies in the specimen bind labelled antigen and are captured at the test zone producing a visible T line; the C line must appear to validate the result.

Components
  • Test devices (individual foil pouches)
  • Droppers
  • Single-use buffer
  • Instruction for use (IFU)

Storage and stability
Store kit at 2–30°C (reported 4–30°C in some documentation). Do not freeze. Protect from direct sunlight. Shelf life: 18 months as marked on package label.

Test Procedure
  • Collect fresh specimen (whole blood, serum or plasma). Test immediately after collection where possible.
  • Remove test device from foil pouch and place horizontally.
  • Add 2–3 drops (≈70–100 µL) of serum/plasma or appropriate volume of whole blood to the sample well; start timer.
  • Read result between 5 and 10 minutes. Results read after 15 minutes are considered invalid.

Interpretation of assay result
If both C and T lines appear the specimen is positive for anti-TB antibodies. If only the C line appears the specimen is negative. Absence of the C line indicates an invalid test and repeat testing is required.
