Description

Introduction
Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) expressing K99 fimbriae is a frequent cause of neonatal and young-animal diarrhea in piglets, calves and lambs. This lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay provides rapid qualitative detection of E. coli K99 antigen in animal feces or vomit. Assay time: 5–10 minutes.

Product overview
The test is a single-use lateral flow device supplied in individual foil pouches for on-site qualitative screening of E. coli K99 in fecal or vomit specimens. Results are visible within 5–10 minutes, enabling fast decision-making in field or clinic settings.

Benefits
  • Designed for on-site screening of feces and vomit from young animals.
  • Simple procedure suitable for veterinary staff and farm personnel.
  • Rapid qualitative result in 5–10 minutes for timely management.
  • High analytical sensitivity comparable to enzyme-labeled assays for effective detection of clinical cases.
  • Individual sealed devices for reduced contamination risk and easy transport.

Components
  • Test devices (individually foil‑pouched)
  • Droppers
  • Sample buffer
  • Instructions for use (IFU)

Storage and stability
Store kit at 2–30°C. DO NOT FREEZE. Protect from direct sunlight. The kit is stable until the expiration date printed on the package (18 months).

Test procedure
  • Collect a fresh feces or vomit specimen and prepare according to IFU (mix a small amount of sample with supplied buffer as instructed).
  • Remove the test device from the foil pouch and place horizontally on a flat surface.
  • Add 2–3 drops (approximately 70–100 µL) of the prepared sample into the sample well. Start timing.
  • Read the result within 5–10 minutes. Results read after 15 minutes are invalid.

Interpretation of assay result
Validity is confirmed by the appearance of the control line. Appearance of the test line indicates a positive result for E. coli K99 antigen. Read results within 5–10 minutes; results after 15 minutes are invalid.
