Product OverviewThe rapid antibody test for Echinococcus granulosus in sheep is a lateral-flow immunoassay for qualitative detection of antibodies to Echinococcus granulosus (EGR) in sheep serum or plasma. Intended for on-site screening and herd surveillance. Assay time: 5–10 minutes (product text elsewhere indicates 10 minutes). Specimen: serum or plasma.
IntroductionEchinococcus granulosus infection in sheep (ovine echinococcosis) is a zoonotic parasitic disease with economic impact on flocks, particularly affecting young animals. Clinical signs are often nonspecific (reduced appetite, slow response). Identification of seropositive animals supports herd management, deworming strategies and prevention of transmission via definitive hosts (dogs).

Benefits- One-step testing from serum or plasma suitable for field use.
- Simple operation requiring minimal training for on-site inspection.
- Rapid results within the specified window to support quick decision-making.
- High throughput capability (manufacturer claim: up to ~270 samples/hour at fastest for batch processing).
- Compact kit format for mobile use and integration with cloud-based quality control where available.
- High analytical sensitivity reported to be comparable to enzyme-labeled methods.
Components- Test devices
- Droppers
- Single buffer
- Instructions for use (IFU)
Storage and StabilityStore kit at 2–30°C. Do not freeze. Protect from direct sunlight. Kits are stable until the expiration date printed on the package (18 months).
Test Procedure- Collect fresh whole blood from the sheep and separate serum or plasma. Test specimen immediately after collection where possible.
- Remove test device from foil pouch and place horizontally on a flat surface.
- Apply 2–3 drops (approximately 70–100 µL) of serum or plasma into the sample well. Start timing.
- Read result within 5–10 minutes. Results read after 15 minutes are invalid.
Interpretation of Assay ResultInterpret test and control lines visually according to the IFU within the specified time window. Positive, negative and invalid result criteria are provided in the kit documentation.
