All MediCare Gynae pessaries are a Class IIa Medical Device intended for short-term use (up to 30 days) and self-management.
A pessary cup with support (often called a cup-shaped pessary with internal support) is used to treat moderate to severe pelvic organ prolapse and provides added support compared to a basic cup pessary without support. The support structure inside the cup helps keep the pessary in place while providing greater support for prolapsed organs, such as the uterus, vaginal vault, or bladder.
When to Use a Pessary Cup with Support:
Moderate to Severe Pelvic Organ Prolapse (Stage II–IV)
Ideal for uterine prolapse, vaginal vault prolapse, or bladder prolapse (cystocele) when more robust support is needed than a simpler cup pessary can provide.
Advanced Cystocele (Bladder Prolapse)
The cup’s shape helps support the anterior vaginal wall and lift the bladder, making it ideal for women with more advanced prolapse.
Post-Hysterectomy Vaginal Vault Prolapse
The added support structure helps maintain the position of the vaginal vault in women who have had a hysterectomy, especially if the vaginal walls are lax.
Rectocele (Posterior Vaginal Wall Prolapse)
Provides some support for the posterior vaginal wall in cases of rectocele, especially when prolapse is more severe.
Women with Moderate to Weak Vaginal Tone
Works well for women whose vaginal tone is not strong enough to retain a simple ring or dish pessary but still needs support to manage prolapse.
Non-Surgical Candidates
Suitable for women who wish to avoid or delay surgery, or those who are not good candidates for surgery (e.g., due to age, comorbidities, or personal preference).
