All MediCare Gynae pessaries are a Class IIa Medical Device intended for short-term use (up to 30 days) and self-management.
A pessary dish with support (often a dish-shaped pessary with a crossbar or internal support structure) is designed to manage moderate to severe pelvic organ prolapse, providing more structural support than a basic dish-shaped pessary without support. The added support makes it suitable for more significant prolapse cases while maintaining the relatively low profile of the dish design.
When to Use a Pessary Dish with Support:
Moderate to Severe Pelvic Organ Prolapse (Stage II–IV)
Ideal for uterine prolapse, vaginal vault prolapse, or cystocele (bladder prolapse) when the prolapsed organs require more support than a standard dish can provide.
The internal support helps elevate the prolapsed organs more effectively than a simple dish, making it more suitable for moderate to severe cases.
Cystocele and Rectocele
Provides support for both anterior (bladder) and posterior (rectum) prolapse when both compartments are affected.
Women with Moderate Vaginal Tone
More effective in women with vaginal tone that’s weaker than in mild cases, but still better retained than a simpler dish without support.
Non-Surgical Candidates
Great for patients who want to avoid surgery or are medically unfit for surgical intervention (e.g., elderly women, those with comorbid conditions, etc.).
For Prolapse with Additional Support Needs
The support bar or internal structure of the pessary helps prevent the organ(s) from descending further and offers more stability and comfort compared to a plain dish.
