All MediCare Gynae pessaries are a Class IIa Medical Device intended for short-term use (up to 30 days) and self-management.
A pessary dish without support (often called a flat or disk-shaped pessary) is primarily used for managing mild to moderate pelvic organ prolapse. It provides a low-profile, non-invasive option for women who need support for prolapsed organs but don’t require the added structure or height provided by a ring with support or other more rigid pessaries.
When to Use a Pessary Dish Without Support:
Mild to Moderate Pelvic Organ Prolapse (Stage I–II)
Often used in cases of uterine prolapse or vaginal vault prolapse, where the prolapsed organ does not require significant height or support but still benefits from gentle lifting.
Cystocele (Bladder Prolapse)
Provides mild anterior vaginal wall support for bladder prolapse without the bulk of other pessary types.
Rectocele (Posterior Vaginal Wall Prolapse)
It can be used in cases of rectocele when a more discreet, low-profile support is needed, but it may not be as effective for severe posterior prolapse.
Non-Surgical Candidates or Conservative Management
Ideal for patients who prefer to avoid surgery, are elderly, or have significant comorbidities that prevent surgical intervention.
Patients with Adequate Vaginal Tone
Works well in women with sufficient pelvic floor strength to keep the dish in place. It is less effective for women with severe vaginal laxity.
Comfort or Cosmetic Preference
Some women prefer a less bulky, more discreet option for prolapse support, especially when they don’t require much lifting or when a ring or larger pessary feels too uncomfortable.
