The Astrolabe Plantar Plate is indicated for plantar Lapidus arthrodesis (first tarsometatarsal – TMT1 fusion) as an advanced corrective procedure for hallux valgus deformities presenting with significant angular deviation and first-ray instability.

Positioned on the plantar aspect of the TMT1 joint, the plate is designed to provide biomechanically advantageous fixation by supporting the medial column under physiological load. This plantar construct enhances stability, optimizes load distribution, and contributes to maintaining correction, thereby reducing the risk of recurrence and helping to prevent progression of degenerative changes at the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP1) joint.

The system supports stable fusion of the TMT1 joint, restoring alignment of the first ray while promoting favorable conditions for osseous consolidation and long-term biomechanical stability.
