OverviewCASTUS is a custom-made adjustable back brace intended for the treatment of scoliosis, kyphotic deformities and rounded shoulders. The device stabilizes spinal vertebrae in three planes (frontal, sagittal and transverse) to limit progression of spinal deformity and support corrective positioning.
Construction and featuresThe brace combines a rigid elastic pelvic cage, a rigid spinal stabilizer, thoracic and axillary supports and elevation supports. An adjustable aluminium frame permits precise adaptation to therapeutic needs; elevation supports are height-adjustable on each side. Aluminium elements are enclosed in a zipped elastic cover for discretion. Components are ultra-lightweight and skin-friendly; an anti-migration tape at the lower edge reduces slipping.
Functional effectsCASTUS provides three-plane spinal correction, reduces lateral displacement, limits excessive flexion/extension and controls rotation. Continuous therapeutic compression supports posture maintenance; breathing resistance against the material promotes activation of deep respiratory muscles, complementing physiotherapy and enabling passive stretching of shortened musculature.
CustomizationMade to order: every CASTUS brace is manufactured from individual measurements and clinical requirements. The device can be anatomically adjusted and configured to operate with one or both elevation supports removed if clinically indicated.
