Description

Overview
The Downflow Workstation (DFW) is a compact, mobile cutting table with an activated carbon filter designed for pathology, forensics and flexible laboratory applications. Exhaust is filtered through activated carbon or HEPA filters and drawn through a perforated stainless-steel work surface to capture vapours and particles at source, supporting compliance with COSHH and BS7989 where applicable.

Applications & Protection
  • Application: Hospital & Pharmacy, Pathology and Forensics laboratories
  • Protection category: Personal protection
  • Protection category: Environmental protection
  • Standard: COSHH, BS7989 (where applicable)
  • Filter type: Activated carbon (optionally HEPA for particle control)

Key features
  • Source capture: Activated carbon–filtered exhaust removes solvent vapours and odors directly at the work surface
  • Optional particle control: HEPA can be combined with carbon filtration for aerosol and particle retention
  • Compact mobile design: Space-saving unit for confined laboratory areas with easy relocation
  • Plug-and-play installation: No complex building exhaust required, reducing installation time and cost
  • Durable work surface: Perforated stainless-steel top — hygienic, chemical-resistant and easy to clean
  • Intuitive monitoring: LCD display for operational status and filter condition
  • Process safety: Visual and acoustic alarms for filter change and system faults

Requirements
  • Effective table extraction: Capture gaseous contaminants at the work surface and retain them in activated carbon filters
  • Operator and environmental protection: Maintain laboratory air quality while delivering reliable operator protection
  • Flexible siting: Deploy independently of room layout for fast integration into existing lab setups

Functional principle
Low-turbulence airflow is guided inward across the perforated work surface to prevent released particles and aerosols from leaving the working area, ensuring personal protection. Activated carbon traps solvent vapours at source; exhaust can be combined with HEPA filtration for enhanced particle control.
