Description

Product overview
  • The SaberVet Feline Anaplasma Antibody Rapid Test is a lateral flow immunoassay for qualitative detection of antibodies to feline Anaplasma (F.ANA) in feline serum, plasma or whole blood. It is intended as a screening tool for the determination of F.ANA infection at point-of-care and in-field settings.

Clinical background
  • Anaplasmosis in cats may present with fever (~39.5 °C), respiratory signs (dyspnea, increased lung sounds), ocular discharge, tick bite lesions, thrombocytopenia, lymphadenopathy, weight loss and hematological abnormalities. The pathogen can parasitize erythrocytes, platelets and neutrophils.

Transmission pathways
  • Primary biological transmission: ticks (male ticks as main vectors).
  • Secondary/mechanical transmission: blood‑sucking insects (horseflies, stable flies, mosquitoes) or exposure to contaminated blood.

Clinical diagnosis methods
  • Kiemsa staining microscopy: direct observation of agents in erythrocytes; low sensitivity and requires >0.5% parasitemia for reliable detection.
  • Immunofluorescence: antibody/antigen detection in blood samples.
  • PCR: nucleic acid detection of the pathogen with high sensitivity and specificity.

Prevention and treatment notes
  • Implement regular ectoparasite control in animals at risk of tick exposure. Use appropriate acaricides per veterinary guidance.
  • Control biting flies and maintain hygiene of animal housing; avoid direct application of disinfectants in the presence of animals.
  • Suspected or confirmed cases should be isolated. Available treatments include doxycycline or other tetracyclines; combine with symptomatic care as indicated (hemostasis, anti‑inflammatory therapy, platelet support, anti‑anemia treatment such as iron dextran when appropriate).

Product features
  • Rapid, easy-to-use lateral flow cassette designed for veterinary screening of feline blood samples.
  • Compatible with serum, plasma and whole blood.
  • Suitable for point-of-care and field screening to support clinical decision-making.

Performance & storage
  • Reported clinical performance: sensitivity 99% and specificity 98.8% (reported from clinical evaluations).
  • Shelf life: 24 months when stored at 2–30 °C. Stable at room temperature, allowing field use without refrigeration.

Manufacturing & quality
  • Manufactured in China at a facility certified to CE, ISO 13485 and GMP standards.
  • Quality controls include batch consistency testing, in-process QC and full batch traceability.
