OverviewThe NEMA IEC PET Body Phantom (NEMA NU 2-2018) is a reference phantom used for acceptance testing and quality control of whole-body PET systems. Manufactured in transparent PMMA, it includes a lung insert and an insert fitted with six fillable hollow spheres, enabling reproducible assessment of contrast, resolution and counting performance of imaging systems.
Conformity and usesDesigned according to IEC 61675-1 recommendations and NEMA NU 2 specifications, it enables evaluation of reconstructed image quality, quantification accuracy (SUV, recovery coefficients) and the performance of modern reconstruction algorithms (OSEM, PSF, TOF, BSREM). It is widely used in nuclear medicine departments, research centers and multicenter studies requiring rigorous standardization.
Main applications- Simulation of whole-body PET imaging under standardized conditions
- Evaluation of reconstructed image quality (resolution, contrast, noise)
- Analysis of counting performance: true coincidence rate, count losses, pile-up
- Characterization of performance for brain and cardiac imaging
- Verification of quantification accuracy (SUV, activity recovery)
- Validation of reconstruction algorithms and corrections (attenuation, scatter, TOF)
- Protocol comparison, inter-site harmonization and research studies
Key features- Set includes a body phantom, a lung insert and an insert with six hollow fillable spheres of various diameters
- Design compliant with IEC and NEMA recommendations for standardized PET testing
- Recommended for assessment of reconstructed image quality in whole-body PET
