Antigen backgroundBeta-Catenin is a cytoplasmic protein that binds the conserved tail of E-cadherin and is a component of the adherens junction. It supports Ca2+-dependent cell–cell adhesion, actin cytoskeleton anchoring and signal transmission. In addition, Beta-Catenin functions as a transcription effector in the Wnt signaling pathway. Nuclear localization detected by immunohistochemistry is an indicator of Wnt-pathway activation and is observed in various tumorigenic processes, notably colorectal cancer.
DisclaimerThis antibody is intended for the detection of Beta-Catenin in normal and neoplastic tissues by immunohistochemistry and should be used as an adjunct to standard histopathological methods and stains.
