Antigen BackgroundCD5 antigen is expressed on approximately 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. In lymph nodes, CD5 reactivity is primarily observed on T cells. CD5 is also expressed by many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas, by activated T cells and by a subset of B cells located mainly in the mantle zones of normal lymph nodes. CD5 expression is reported in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), some B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemias (B-CLL) and in certain B- and T-cell lymphomas.

DisclaimerRecommended for the detection of target antigens in normal and neoplastic tissues as an adjunct to conventional histopathology using non-immunologic histochemical stains.
