Description

Product overview
Antibody reagents directed against Calcitonin for immunohistochemistry (IHC). Available as BOND RTU (ready-to-use) and liquid concentrate formats. Clones: POLYCLONAL and CL1948. Intended for P (ENZYME) IHC in Head, Neck and Endocrine pathology. Volumes: 7ml (BOND RTU) and 1ml (liquid concentrate). Regulatory status: In Vitro Diagnostic Use.

Antigen background
Calcitonin (CT) is a 32–amino-acid peptide produced by parafollicular C cells of the thyroid. It inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and reduces serum calcium by actions on kidney and intestine. The CT/CGRP transcript yields either calcitonin or calcitonin gene‑related peptide (CGRP) depending on tissue-specific splicing. Elevated Calcitonin expression is a diagnostic marker for medullary thyroid carcinoma and related C‑cell pathology.

Disclaimer
For detection of Calcitonin in normal and neoplastic tissues as an adjunct to conventional histopathology. Use according to local regulations and the provided IFU.
