Product overviewMonoclonal antibody for detection of Beta-Dystroglycan (DAG1) in human tissues. Clone 43DAG1/8D5. Supplied as a lyophilised concentrate; nominal volume 1 ml after reconstitution. Intended for use in immunohistochemistry (IHC) on frozen sections and for applications in muscle pathology research and diagnostics.
Antigen backgroundDystrophin-associated glycoproteins (DAGs) are involved in the attachment of dystrophin to muscle membranes. The biological significance of this dystrophin/glycoprotein complex is not fully understood, but it appears to form an essential linkage between actin on the inside of the muscle fiber and muscle laminin in the basal lamina which surrounds the fiber. Beta-dystroglycan spans the sarcolemma and it has been suggested that it is the member of the complex which binds directly to dystrophin.
Applications and imageImmunohistochemical staining has been demonstrated on frozen longitudinal sections of human skeletal muscle. Staining localizes to the sarcolemma of muscle fibres when tested with clone 43DAG1/8D5. Use appropriate positive and negative controls and membrane integrity markers where indicated.
