Antigen backgroundCA19-9 is an epitope on the sialylated Lewisa carbohydrate structure. Sialyl Lewisa contributes to cell adhesion by acting as a ligand for the inducible adhesion molecule E‑selectin. CA19-9 and CA50 are established serum and tissue markers used in the evaluation and follow-up of gastrointestinal and pancreatic neoplasms; expression level often correlates with tumor differentiation. Both markers may also be detected in certain benign pancreatic lesions, such as chronic pancreatitis.
Product specific informationClone C241:5:1:4 reacts specifically with Sialyl Lewisa-containing glycolipids with no cross‑reaction to Lewisa, Lewisb or other related structures. The epitope recognized by NCL-L-CA19-9 is designated CA19-9. Available configurations include ready-to-use BOND RTU formats and a liquid concentrate variant.
DisclaimerCA19-9 (Sialyl Lewisa) reagents are intended for detection of specific antigens in normal and neoplastic tissues as an adjunct to conventional histopathology and should be interpreted in the context of clinical and other laboratory findings.
