Description

Overview
The cobas® 8800 system integrates and fully automates PCR-based nucleic acid testing (NAT) workflows for high-volume molecular diagnostics. It provides high throughput, rapid time-to-result and extended walk-away capability to improve laboratory throughput and operational efficiency. Designed for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.

Key benefits
  • Complete automation with random sample loading and long walk-away times to minimize manual interventions
  • High throughput and fast time-to-results to support large testing volumes
  • Pre-calibrated, ready-to-use reagents to simplify handling and reduce errors
  • Onboard storage and refrigeration for reagents and consumables to decrease loading frequency
  • End-to-end traceability from sample to result using RFID and barcode-tagged consumables
  • Automated intelligent scheduling with continuous assembly of optimal runs to reduce sample idling
  • Priority lane options to expedite urgent assays and samples
  • Ability to run IVDs and LDTs simultaneously and support for open-channel assays via the cobas® omni utility channel

Integration & data
Supports integration with pre-analytical automation (e.g., cobas® prime and cobas® p 612), Navify® Lab Operations and Navify® Analytics for operational control, pre-analytics and actionable insights.

System components & workflow
  • Sample supply: continuous loading of sample racks (primary and/or secondary tubes)
  • Sample transfer: automated barcode scanning and transfer to processing plates
  • Sample preparation: extraction and purification of nucleic acids in the processing module
  • Amplification and detection: automated amplification and real-time PCR detection
  • Inventory manager: onboard storage for reagents, controls and consumables enabling full automation
  • Cross-contamination prevention: hydraulic doors, airlock screens, separation of pipetting, automatic heat sealing and AmpErase usage
