Description

Overview
The cobas® u 601 urine analyzer is a fully automated urinalysis system for in vitro quantitative, qualitative or semi-quantitative determination of urine analytes to support evaluation of renal, urinary, hepatic and metabolic disorders. It is designed for use by trained operators in clinical laboratory environments.

Intended analytes / measurements
  • pH
  • Leukocytes
  • Nitrite
  • Protein
  • Glucose
  • Ketones
  • Urobilinogen
  • Bilirubin
  • Erythrocytes (differentiation between lysed and intact erythrocytes)
  • Specific gravity
  • Color
  • Clarity

Key product features
  • Fully automated urine strip testing workflow to minimize operator intervention.
  • Throughput up to 240 samples per hour.
  • On-board parameters: 12.
  • Uses cobas® u pack cassettes with 400 Combur-Test® reagent strips per cassette.
  • Combur-Test® strip technology with net sealing and iodated mesh to reduce pad interference and ascorbic acid effects.
  • Two weeks on-board strip stability (humidity protected) for cobas® u pack.
  • New-generation photometer / reflectance technology for high-resolution strip pad reading and improved reliability.
  • Photometer detects strip pad errors (dust, bent strip, insufficient/excessive sample) and provides diagnostic messages.
  • Differentiates lysed versus intact erythrocytes for comprehensive blood parameter reporting.
  • Continuous loading/unloading of sample racks; strips loaded in RFID-labelled cassettes.
  • Built-in RFID reader for QC: automatic transfer of QC lot-specific information (QC level, target ranges, lot number, expiry dates).
  • QC management functions to reduce operator actions and streamline workflow.
  • Stand-alone unit, upgradable on-site with cobas® u 701 microscopy analyzer to form the cobas® 6500 urine analyzer series (modular system).
  • User interface: 19-inch touchscreen with intuitive UI and wizard-guided procedures for maintenance and training.
  • Sample input buffer: capacity 75 samples (15 racks × 5 samples) with automatic start and a STAT input slot for priority samples.
  • Output buffer: capacity 75 samples with efficient single-movement tray unloading.
