Product OverviewThe EHRLICHIA-ELISA DOG is an enzyme immunoassay designed for the detection of IgG antibodies to Ehrlichia canis in serum and plasma samples from dogs. Ehrlichia canis is the causative agent of ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne infectious disease of dogs, typically transmitted by the brown dog tick.
Disease InformationEhrlichiosis in dogs is characterized by acute symptoms such as high fever, lethargy, anorexia, lymphadenomegaly, splenomegaly, and hemorrhagic phenomena. Inflammatory oedematous and haemorrhagic ophthalmological symptoms, including potential blindness, may occur. Chronic disease phases can develop, sometimes with pronounced acute symptoms. Common clinical findings include pale gums and mucous membranes, weakness, bleeding, weight loss, hypoalbuminemia, hyperglobulinaemia, hypergammaglobulinaemia, and slight elevations of ALAT and ALP.
