Product OverviewThe virotype PRRSV RT-PCR Kit is designed for the detection of RNA from Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) in swine. This kit is highly relevant for the swine industry due to the prevalence and economic impact of PRRSV infections.
Key Features- Simultaneous detection of North American (NA) and European (EU) PRRSV genotypes in swine samples.
- Also detects the new Danish hybrid strain.
- Differentiates the HP strain of the NA genotype.
- Suitable for pools of up to 5 individual samples, including blood, serum, tissue, bronchial swabs, bronchial lavage, saliva, and semen samples from swine.
- Can also be used for cell culture supernatant and collective samples of saliva.
Background on PRRSVPRRSV is an RNA virus belonging to the order Nidovirales, family Arteriviridae. It is classified into two main genotypes: European (EU/I) and North American (NA/II). Infections can cause respiratory disease in piglets and reproductive failure in pregnant sows. A highly pathogenic NA strain (HP PRRSV) emerged in 2006, characterized by high fever and high mortality in swine of all ages.
