Description

Product Overview
The cattletype CaPV Ab Multispecies from INDICAL is a sensitive and specific double-antigen ELISA designed for the detection of antibodies to Capripoxviruses (CaPVs) in serum samples from cattle, sheep, and goats. This assay enables early and reliable detection of Lumpy Skin Disease Virus (LSDV), Sheeppox Virus (SPPV), and Goatpox Virus (GTPV), supporting surveillance and control of these economically significant livestock diseases.

Key Features
  • Highly sensitive and specific test
  • Suitable for cattle, sheep, and goat samples
  • Fast and convenient workflow for high throughput scenarios
  • Colored and ready-to-use reagents for easy handling
  • Early detection of antibodies demonstrated in extensive vaccination and infection trials

Background on Capripoxviruses
Capripoxviruses are among the most significant animal poxviruses due to their impact on livestock health and economic consequences. The genus includes three primary species: Lumpy Skin Disease Virus (LSDV), Sheeppox Virus (SPPV), and Goatpox Virus (GTPV). LSDV primarily affects cattle, causing fever, enlarged lymph nodes, and characteristic skin nodules, and is mainly transmitted by insect vectors. SPPV affects sheep, leading to severe skin lesions, respiratory issues, and sometimes death, spreading through direct contact or aerosols. GTPV affects goats, causing similar symptoms to SPPV, with transmission via close contact or contaminated environments.

Movement restrictions and early detection through surveillance are crucial to minimizing the spread and impact of these viruses. Effective control and prevention—including vaccination, vector management, and biosecurity measures—are essential to prevent outbreaks.

Application
The cattletype CaPV Ab Multispecies is a reliable tool to detect CaPV infections or to monitor humoral vaccination responses in ruminant populations.
