Background: Classical Swine Fever and CSFVClassical Swine Fever (CSF) is one of the most economically important viral infectious diseases of swine, affecting both domestic pig and wild boar populations. CSF is an internationally notifiable animal disease. The causative agent, Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV), is a single-stranded RNA virus, member of the genus Pestivirus, family Flaviviridae, related to Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) in cattle and Border Disease Virus (BDV) in sheep.
