Background
Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein from Streptomyces avidinii with exceptionally high affinity for biotin (Kd ≈ 10⁻¹⁴ M). This non-covalent interaction is widely used in molecular biology for immobilization, detection and purification tasks.
The product's 10–30 µm particle size provides a balance between surface area and handling properties, suitable for solid-phase assays, SPR, microplate-based assays and manual or automated separation workflows.
Streptavidin's neutral isoelectric point (pI ≈ 5–6) helps reduce nonspecific interactions in complex samples, improving assay specificity.

Product Features
  • Affinity for biotin: Kd ≈ 10⁻¹⁴ M for stable capture under stringent conditions
  • Thermal tolerance: retains activity at elevated temperatures (up to ~80°C) for repeated thermal cycles
  • Chemical compatibility: tolerant to common detergents (SDS, Triton X‑100), organic solvents and chaotropes
  • Low nonspecific binding: neutral surface charge minimizes background in sensitive assays
  • Conjugation-ready: accessible primary amines for dye/enzyme labeling or magnetic coupling

Product Advantages
  • Reduced reagent use due to high binding capacity per unit
  • Rapid binding kinetics (ka ≈ 10⁷ M⁻¹s⁻¹) to accelerate assay workflows
  • Compatible with manual and high-throughput automated systems
  • Stable shelf life of 24 months when stored at 2–8°C
