Description: Kit for collection, transport and short-term storage of clinical specimens (saliva, blood, serum, stool, body fluids, nasal/pharyngeal swabs, tissue biopsies, cell culture supernatant). The included preservative lyses organisms and inactivates cells, bacteria and viruses while preserving total DNA/RNA for downstream analysis.
Storage: Before use store at 15–30 °C for up to 24 months. After sampling, samples may be kept at room temperature for up to 1 week; for long-term storage keep at −20 °C or below.
Shelf Life: 2 years
Quantities: 1 collection tube (with 1–3 mL preservative) per unit

Usage

• Remove swab from sterile package and collect specimen from the target site (oral, nasal or other). For nasal swabs, gently insert the swab into the nasal passage and rotate; use a new swab for the other nostril if required. For pharyngeal swabs, sample the bilateral tonsillar pillars and posterior pharyngeal wall.
• Open collection tube and immerse the swab head in the preservative; snap or break the swab shaft so the head remains sealed in the tube and discard the tail.
• Tightly cap the tube and invert or shake several times to mix.
• Place the sealed sampling tube in a biohazard transport bag and seal for shipment.
