Product nameKids Thumb Abduction Splint FIX-KG-15
Pediatric trigger thumb (PTT)Pediatric trigger thumb (PTT) is a condition in which the thumb intermittently locks in flexion due to the flexor tendon catching at the pulley system. It commonly appears between ages 1 and 3 and may affect one or both thumbs; incidence is approximately 3 per 1,000 children.
Purpose of use- Pediatric trigger thumb (PTT)
- Thumb dislocation
- Thumb sprain/strain
- Skier’s thumb (ulnar collateral ligament injury)
- Inflammation of the thumb
- Tendon injuries
- Thumb and little finger fractures (immobilization support)
- Thumb involvement in rheumatoid arthritis
Product’s description- The Kids Thumb Abduction Splint FIX-KG-15 secures the thumb in abduction and controlled extension to prevent involuntary flexion and to unload affected ligaments and tendons, supporting conservative treatment and rehabilitation.
- Constructed from AeroSpace II™ — a distance-elastic 3D knitted fabric with two facings and an interlacing that provides appropriate thickness and pressure relief. The knit uses polyester for mechanical strength and spandex for elasticity. AeroSpace II™ features an external self-gripping layer for quick adjustment, low weight, high breathability and reduced muscle vibration; its 3D structure ensures soft contact with the skin and relieves orthopaedic stays.
- Equipped with a shapeable aluminum splint made from a special alloy that provides stiffness at minimal weight; ends are rounded to prevent tissue irritation. Splints can be supplied pre-profiled or flat and are individually bent to conform to patient anatomy, enabling targeted correction of joint position.
- The aluminum stay holds the thumb in a neutral position with slight abduction to avoid excessive adduction and muscle contracture, reduce soft tissue inflammation and promote healing.
- Design allows use on both right and left hands and is suitable for preventing excessive adduction in neurological conditions (e.g., cerebral palsy), maintaining a functional hand posture.
