PATHOLOGICAL GAITPathological gait denotes a walking pattern that deviates from physiological gait, most frequently due to neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy. Neuromotor impairments produce reduced selective motor control, muscle imbalance, primitive reflexes and sensory deficits, leading to abnormal posture, compensatory patterns and progressive joint deformities.
In bilateral spastic forms (spastic diplegia) increased muscle tone and reflexes promote contractures, joint stiffness and internal hip rotation. Physiotherapy (Bobath, Vojta) and upright positioning support muscle extensibility and range of motion. To maintain therapeutic gains passively, the OKD-33 paediatric lower-limb derotation straps are recommended.
Product’s description:The OKD-33 is a professional paediatric orthosis composed of a trunk section and adjustable derotation straps. The trunk part uses UniTape™ fabric and includes a SoftComfort™ foam pad with integrated orthopaedic stays to improve stabilization, limit belt rolling and assist posture correction to reduce forward trunk flexion.
Derotation hip straps are produced from AirRubber III™ with unidirectional elasticity (lengthwise stretch only), providing effective compression and consistent limb alignment even in presence of marked contractures. Straps attach to the abdominal pad with a Velcro system; they are cut-to-length and re-attachable for precise therapeutic positioning. Inner silicone coating prevents slippage; strap width is optimized to limit local pressure and skin irritation.
The device supports limb symmetry, trunk stabilization and proprioceptive input, contributing to balance and gait pattern during rehabilitation.
