Description

Short description
Paediatric hip joint abduction orthosis

SPECIAL FEATURES
The FREMI paediatric hip abduction orthosis is an innovative device designed to maintain correct position and safe abduction of the lower limbs in children with neurological and orthopaedic conditions. The frame is lightweight aluminum and is surrounded by pressure-relieving foam covered with breathable CottonMix™ fabric. Hip wraparound straps and the adjuster cover are made of AirDistance™, a skin-friendly, 3-layer airy fabric that wicks moisture and keeps skin dry.

Purpose of use
  • cerebral palsy (CP)
  • damage to the central nervous system (CNS)
  • diseases of neurological origin
  • orthopaedic and rheumatological conditions

CEREBRAL PALSY (CP)
Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that affect a child’s ability to move, maintain balance and posture. Many children with cerebral palsy have musculoskeletal deformities associated with biomechanical imbalances; the most common deformity is progressive displacement of the hip joint. Doctors and physiotherapists recommend prophylactic lower limb positioning to preserve tissue flexibility and range of hip mobility. The FREMI orthosis maintains the correct abduction position and reduces the risk of femoral head dislocation by acting from the inside of the limbs (adductor and flexor muscles), providing excellent support and safety even during strong muscle spasms.

Material & construction
The product’s frame is made of lightweight but strong aluminum. The frame is surrounded by pressure-relieving foam covered with CottonMix™ breathable cotton fabric to increase comfort and reduce risk of skin lesions. Hip wraparound straps and the orthosis adjuster cover are made of AirDistance™, a 3-layer fabric (perforated comfort foam + 2 non-elastic polyamide layers) that allows air and moisture migration and keeps the skin dry. AirDistance™ is easy to attach from two sides for precise fitting.

Product’s description
The FREMI paediatric hip frame holds the child’s lower limbs in the required abduction position. It provides adjustable hip joint abduction within a physiological range of approximately 0 to 45 degrees, allowing gradual therapeutic increases in abduction (e.g. 15° → 30°). This supports treatment of lower limb spasticity, stretching of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments) and active therapeutic management.
