Overview
A thumb sprain often involves stretching or tearing of a ligament within the thumb joint. The 4classic AM-OSN-U-23 professional wrist brace with thumb abduction effectively immobilizes the radiocarpal (wrist) joint and the thumb saddle (CMC) joint in a neutral, physiological position and provides therapeutic compression that may improve blood supply and accelerate healing.

Materials and stiffenings

• UniPren-1tm: universal three-layer material with external elastic polyamide cover knit (self-adhesive function), internal neoprene foam core and elastic jersey cover knit; soft, flexible and reduces skin marking under compression.
• Palmar strip: provides palmar support.
• Profiled aluminum stays: pre-profiled splints made of aluminum alloy; for correct protection and support they should be precisely bent to the patient by an orthopaedist, physiotherapist or orthopaedic technician.

Additional notes
The brace is right- and left-specific. It is intended to immobilize and compress the wrist and thumb area; the aluminum splint can be removed when reduced stabilization is required.
